Misayama means 'the hunting ground of Suwa's deity,' and Kodo means 'land dedicated to the shrine.' It is said to have been a special land related to the gods since ancient times. The Misayama Kodo Hachiman Shrine, a symbol of this place, is a traditional wooden building surrounded by large zelkova trees. Inside the shrine, the cool air, views, silence, and even the passage of time seem to slow.
