On September 15, 1600, on the very day of the Battle of Sekigahara, there was a battle at Hasedō Castle, called 'the Northern Sekigahara.' At the center of this battle was one man: Sakenobe Echizen-no-kami Hidenori. His conduct in this battle led even Naoe Kanetsugu, the opposing (Western) general, to say, 'Sakenobe's valor is unmatched even compared to Shingen and Kenshin.' Hidenori later also took the name Chikatsu, and was deeply trusted by his retainers. His life is recorded in the short story 'The Beggar Daimyo' by Kaion Shiogorō, the original author of the NHK historical drama 'One-Eyed Dragon Masamune.' It is a moving masterpiece. Indeed, he was one of the architects of the Tokugawa family's new era. The site of Hidenori's castle is this high ground in Mamurogawa Town. This house stands on that high ground overlooking Mount Dewa Fuji and Mount Chokai. The view from behind the house is incomparable. Even the manager spoke proudly of it. However, whether due to the sloped terrain or age-related deterioration, small cracks were visible in the foundation. Upon entering the house, items are arranged as if someone still lives there. You are welcome to use them freely. The first-floor western-style room has mirrors embedded in an entire wall. While partially repaired with tape, it is a space for fulfilling personal pursuits through dance, yoga, and weight training. The nearby sports park features natural grass fields, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and training facilities.
