The close relationship between the brain and gut has been clarified, and activating gut function is beneficial to health, a trend known as 'gut activation' (choukaktsu). The causal link between the gut, dietary fiber, and allergies has also been uncovered and is attracting attention. Mushrooms are particularly effective for gut activation. Sakegawa Village is one of Japan's leading mushroom-producing regions. Fresh mushrooms are inexpensive, and the local farmers' market thrives. Now, at last, a gem of a property has appeared, a home with an earthen-floor (doma) space on the banks of the pristine Sakegawa River.
